Conquest has been on a difficult journey, encountering many kinds of obstacles along the way. He has looked into the face of his own fears until they no longer scare him anymore. Conquest has deep battle scars, yet through it all he has come out victorious. Perseverance and persistence has made him stronger.

I moved to Spain!

I haven´t updated my blog in a while because I´ve been pretty busy — I moved to Spain! I’m living in the Andalusian city of Granada and working on an animated movie. I have completely fallen in love with this city and its relaxed lifestyle. Granada is unique because it´s a mixture of Spanish and Moorish influences (seen in the architecture of the Albaycín district –which is almost like a village in itself– and the Alhambra palace that overlooks the city). So far everyone I’ve met is really warm + friendly (and they´re patient with my non-existent Spanish — pero yo hablo un poco Españiol cada dia!). Unlike other cities in Spain, tapas is FREE in Granada when you order a drink (about 2€). Tapas can be anything from small h’ordeuvres to large meal-sized portions of fish, meat, cheese, vegetables, etc, so you can be well fed for quite cheap! My favourite Spanish drink is ´Tinto de Verano´, which is a mixture of red wine + carbonated lemonade (sounds strange but it´s really good + refreshing). As for the food, they sure love their meat! Meat is in just about everything you order — even in salad! Oh.. and don´t even think about having dinner before 9pm.. it´s unheard of! I love the relaxed lifestyle here, the friendly people, and the weather is starting to warm up. Sometimes I feel a little out of place (with the language barrier), but I really enjoy waking up in a city that I want to discover. I thank my blessings everyday.

Drawing/Painting: Totoro

I was recently commissioned to create my version of the much loved Japanese character Totoro, created by Hayao Miyazaki. I love Totoro (who doesn’t!), and I drew him from my favourite scene in the movie when he is standing at the bus stop. First I sketched him out, then inked him, then cut him out + fused him to a painted canvas.

‘Love‘ is my Tuttz Mini custom (sculpted by Eric of Argonaut Resins). His name is painted just above his bleeding heart and his feet reveal his original pink resin base. This is my first Tuttz Mini custom and the smallest custom (4.5″) I’ve ever painted too! ‘Love’ will be available for purchase on Sunday, January 29th at 3pm EST at emilybee.bigcartel.com!

Love might be an itty bitty kitty, but someday he’ll grow into into a big feline with an even bigger heart. He spends his days chasing birds and scratching up the side of the couch. When he’s had his fun he likes to curl up in his owner’s lap for a long snooze.

Urban Vinyl: ‘Strength’ custom resin Tuttz

Introducing ‘Strength‘, my newest Tuttz custom (sculpted by Eric of Argonaut Resins). I painted him by hand and left a bit of his original pink resin base showing through around his face. His name is wrapped around his neck. This is my 4th Tuttz custom to date (you can see the rest of them here). ‘Strength’ will be available for purchase on Wednesday, January 25th at 3pm EST at emilybee.bigcartel.com!

Strength may have a black heart, but he is surely not weak. His name wraps around his neck, exuding power in a vulnerable area. Strength stands strong during hard times that challenge him to the core, never wavering.
